Edela Eesti Arenduskeskus is promoting a call for participants for a Seminar called “Youth and Future: work in progress” which will take place in 15th until 22nd May 2012 in Sciacca (Sicily), Italy.
Through the project we want to send an important message to young people: the importance to take an active role in society for their future and the future of the society itself.
To build a better future Youth must overcome the "youth passivity" of which they are usually accused, not without hasty and often wrong general saying, and being actively involved in their own community.
To do this successfully they must use properly their free time: volunteering, cooperating with various organizations and associations, active participation in local decision-making policies, etc... , activities which are definitely more profitable than an afternoon spent on Facebook or watching television.
In fact, by being active you also acquire knowledge, skills and experience in a "learning by doing" perspective, on which is based the non-formal learning that will inspire the different working methods which will be used in the project (panel discussions, role-playing games , team building activities, open debates, workshops, simulations of decision-making techniques, etc. ..).
The project will have a transnational dimension, involving different countries, so that it will be possible to analyze the same situations and problems in a comparative perspective, to find shared solutions and ideas.
During the youth transnational seminar, Youth will face up with themes such as:
- Youth and voluntary work (focusing on the opportunities given by working voluntary in non – governmental organizations);
- Youth employment (focusing especially on the relationship between students and part-time job);
- European Young mobility: experiences gained during Erasmus exchanges and EVS;
- Youth and politics (focusing especially on the importance of a “Structured Dialogue” between young people, those active in youth work and youth organizations, and those responsible for youth policy and of the active involvement of Youth in decision making process).
This Seminar will bring together 40 participants from Italy, Spain, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal, Check Republic, Hungary, Estonia and Romania.. The activity will be held in English. There are 4 vacancies available and participants should have minimum 18 years old.
The Youth in Action programme will cover 100% of the accommodation, food and activities and will reimburse the participants with 70% of the travel costs. There will be a participation fee of 30 Eur. per participant.
