“Perceive and create!” is a project in which Czech, Estonian and Belgium youngsters (from 14 to 18 years old) participate in the 10 days long exchange in the Czech Republic, engaging in artistic workshops and exploring society and landscape of the city Melnik and surroundings from different points of view.
The aim is to lead young people to perceive world around them more carefully and with the information they receive they are able to deal in creative way. It means they are more aware of particularities of every culture, society and individual person but in the same time they are searching for universal language of art which cuts across all boundaries; national, cultural and linguistic.
Every day the participants focus on one type of perception and one type of creative dealing with it. They work with movement and voice, they make three dimensional art objects for non-visual perception and collages of photos and stories everything based on their experiences from interaction with inhabitants of Melnik and exploration of the surroundings. They also work with the materials brought by Belgium group from their home city Oostende.
Using all pieces of work (material as well as nonmaterial) the participants made during the project they prepare an interactive exhibition-presentation in the unique space of Gallery and tearoom in the historical tower in Melnik. It presents how the youngsters perceive Melnik and its surounding as well as it is the great example of international creative collaboration based on the reality of two different cities (Ostende and Melnik).
In the last days of the project the participants enjoy Czech traditional Easters together. After all workshops developping different type of perception they are able to feel this unique time really by all sences. For Czechs it is oppurtunity to experience unusual international Easters and for Belgians it is a great possibility to learn about Czech traditions in closed contact with the locals. The project will increase their awareness of other cultures, introduce them to new perspectives and encourage them to express their feelings and talents. It’s an opportunity to exchange experiences and points of view about the dimension of cultural, social and natural environment of young people. That’s how this exchange promotes young people’s active citizenship and their European citizenship in particular.
The event will be held in English. There are 10 vacancies available and participants should have 14 - 18 years old.
The Youth in Action programme will cover 100% of the accommodation, food and activities and will reimburse the participants with 70% of the travel costs. There will be a participation fee of 20 Eur per participant.
